TeeShot 1.5 Approved!

I received an email from Apple tonight that TeeShot 1.5 has completed the review process and will be live in the store within 24 hours.  Thanks for everyone’s patience!

As a reminder, there is a bug in the iPhone that can cause data loss if you download updates directly on the phone so make sure you download the TeeShot update using iTunes and install it from there.  Apple is still investigating this issue but it has not been fixed yet.

Thanks again for your patience and enjoy 1.5!

  1. Cool! I really forward to it Chris. Thanks for the heads up.

  2. Folks I am downloading the upgrade right now…sweet…thank you. The wait is finally over.

  3. dowloading from méxico

  4. Just saw 1.5 update on phone and started download (info screen still called it 1.0.2 though). Update looks great (and I didn’t lose any data in the iPhone-based update). Great job guys!

  5. great job! Love the multi player setup. Thanks again!

  6. Hi Just updated to 1.5 using the itunes.
But got an unknown error when itunes synced and itunes reported that teeshot was not installed. I synced the phone again and this time the app installed but the data was lost. Is there anyway to get the old score data back?

    Lars

  7. I updated to 1.5 and checked the new features. Frankly the scoring UI is a bit confusing (two different way to keep score). Cannot input fairway hit info under group score UI. Cannot update green location during round play.

I would say under the hole view, tap on each player brings up the scoring UI will be more strait forward. Meanwhile, under hole view with the ability to set green GPS info will be convenient.

Just some of my thoughts, adding more features should not reduce the simplicity of using the app.

But 1.5 is a big step forward, keep up the good work guys.

  8. I’ve downloaded 1.5 and had a little test at home to see how it works. I use the stableford scoring system every time I play and in initial tests it doesn’t seem to work. For example, two net pars only gives me 3 points instead of the 4 that it should. Am I inputting wrongly or is this a (very serious) bug?

  9. TeeShot 1.5 was available as an update this morning on my phone. The computer I synch with is caput for now, so I downloaded it directly to the phone. I may lose data, but there wasn’t much there to lose. ;-)

However, when checking the app store in iTunes from another computer, it appears that currently only v 1.0.2 is available.

  10. Dan -

I noticed a problem with the app store - Hope Chris can look into it, and Apple can fix it soon

  11. Lars Tiben-

I had the same thing happen to me this morning. After resyncing when I got the error message, I lost all of my saved rounds and courses. It’s a little frustrating to lose the data, and I hope there is a fix in the works. Other than that, the app looks great!

  12. the app is great. Thanks for the great work. I am a bit confused with the stableford score here in Europe. The score seems wrong, eg my handicap is 36, I make the par, the app give me 2 points instead of 4.

Stats are great. It would be amazing to have also some stats on the evolution, eg last round vs. Last 5,…

Thanks a lot for being so reactive on it.
    Steven

  13. In the US and i dont see an update either thru itunes or the phone itself

Is this update for the 3G only?

  14. Argggh. I missed it, showing the old version. aggrivating

  15. Testing…

    I’ll provide feedback soooooooon! :)

  16. How do you download via itunes. My only option is to buy it again?

  17. I’d rather be honest that anything else, but I find the whole multi-player mode ridiculously complex. I thought you’d be able to mark everyones scores at once.

I think all the detailed procedures of this app need to be kept for the single player, and when a player is in multi-player mode the whole thing should change making marking a few players at once so easy a baby could do it.

All one wants for multiplayer is the score, it’s that simple. Having to leave your card to go out and go into another players card is very painful. There should be “a waaay” more simpler way.

Sorry for the bad review, but I waited a while for this am I’m disappointed. Appreciate all the effort, but seriously, multiplayer mode needs “serious” attention.

  18. Brendan -

I was able to test the multi player - After adding your additional players and their handicaps (if they have one) you add up to 3 players to your round of golf. As Lgcu said there are a few ways to score that took me a while to understand.

    1. you can pick yourself and enter scoring as an individual player and your shot details - I do this during the hole to record my club usage and distance.

    2. you can also enter each player to add scoring individually and their fairway stat - I found this too much back and forth.

    3. go to Group scoring ( I do this at the end of each hole) and ask each person their strokes and putts - you are in one page view and can enter each persons score all at once - you see everyones handicap allowance for that hole and their gross and net for that hole -

Now that I have used it for a few rounds I find the #3 is the easiest way to do it - so easy a baby could do it. I do jump back to my individual scoring to add details if I want. I did’nt see how to mark fairway stats for the other players in the group scoring page - but you could do that for each individual when waiting to tee off for the next hole-

Give it a try - I found that I needed to use it to really find the most efficient way to use it during the round-

    Hope this helps - Jim

  19. I used 1.5 already for my round today (in Germany) and I think the Group scoring is great, it only takes a moment to enter all the scores and putts.
But there are two things missing in my opinion.
You can’t enter Fairway hits, and I think it would be great to get into the players details by clicking on his name, to use the GPS capabilities.
Right now it is to much going back and forth.

    Still great though

  20. Hi all,

Lots of comments, so I’m working through the email this and comments this morning.

For folks who are having issues with Stableford scoring, I just need to know if you set your handicap in the player setup? We use the players handicap to figure out net scores which are important for stableford and the default is 0. If you are having problems with it, please let me know if that was set. There have been some other reports of problems with Stableford scoring so I am definitely looking into it, but I need to know if that was set.

Also, make sure you set the Handicap system setting to EGA in Settings.

  21. Stableford worked great for me.
The only thing that I’d like to see on top, would be to get the new handycap calculated at the end of the round, and then the question whether it should be updated in the players datas

    Great Job so far

  22. A lot of people are clearly getting the updated version, yet iTunes is still showing version 1.0.2 as the current version. They said in the mail last night that it would take up to 24 hours to get the update rolled out completely, so I’m going to give them until tonight before I ping them more about the text and version being out of date.

Of course, they won’t be back in the office until Tuesday…

    -Chris

  23. Brendan,

You can mark everyone’s scores at once in the Group Scoring page. You can get to it from the first page after selecting the round.

Group Scoring is really targeted at being able to score strokes, putts and penalties quickly for all of the players. It doesn’t have more details for each player but I figured that you don’t want that much detail for everyone else. If I was wrong on that, please let me know and I can make it better in upcoming releases.

Here’s how I play with it. During a round, I am on the user scoring page where I can still hit the +/- buttons for each hole. On rounds where I have tagged the greens, I will sometimes use shot by shot mode, but sometimes I don’t want all that data :)

At the end of each hole, I tap the “current rounds” button in the bottom right corner and then tap Group Scoring to enter everyone else’s scores since I’m not tracking them shot by shot, but just entering what they did at the end of each hole.

Then I go back into more detailed mode for me at the start of the next hole. Again, if folks have preferences for how they would like to see this work in upcoming releases I would love to hear them. One option I was looking at but didn’t do (but still could) is a player chooser off of the +/- screen so you can just stay there and switch between players. That is a lot more taps than the Group Scoring mode, but it is a totally reasonable way of scoring.

    -Chris

  24. group scoring works best for me to keep tabs on other players and the round in general with my buddies. i don’t want to toggle between players to get their scores in and i certainly have no interest in recording any shot details for anyone other than myself

  25. I totally agree with both you Chris and Eric, but I think it should be able to switch between group scoring and your own details easier and quicker then right now.
And I believe the easiest way would be to link the Names with the detail page.

  26. Jonny, I love that idea!

  27. Just to add to my comment earlier, in answer to your questions, I do have my handicap set and I also have settings switched to EGA.

Thanks for looking at this problem.

  28. The same thing Happened to me that happened to Lars Tiben… Updating in iTunes gave me an error, and the next time it synced with my phone, all of my teeshot live data was lost.

Good thing I only had one round in there, otherwise I would not have been a happy camper ;)

  29. Thanks, you are welcome.
And I love your app, but I still do have some ideas to add ;-)

  30. Jonny - Great!

    :)

  31. Chris,

I do not have a update on my iphone 3G. If I go and download the 1.5 version from the store do I get charged again?

  32. Apple should not charge you again for TeeShot if you have already purchased it on the iTunes account that you are signed in with.

    -Chris

  33. So Chris,
When tagging greens does it matter if you don’t do it all the same time?
In other words if out went out today just to tag the greens for 9 holes, not playing, and then went later to tag the remaining 9 holes they will all still be there when I go to upload the course to TeeShot?
