Now that TeeShot 1.6 has made it into the iTunes Application store, I am happy to release an updated version of CourseBuilder that lets you tag greens with GPS coordinates from the comfort of your own desk.
This version of CourseBuilder comes with something new, though. A Windows version! CourseBuilder for Windows is now available and it works pretty much identically to how CourseBuilder for the Macintosh works.
You can download both versions from the CourseBuilder page on TeeShotLive.com and you can also read the instructions for tagging greens with GPS coordinates.
As always, we’d love to hear from you if you have any suggestions or problems with either version.

Chris,
I downloaded coursebuilder for windows and it would not install. I have windows vista.
When it was going through the install it said the program stopped working and closed. Any ideas?

Hi Chris just wondering if you are thinking of making a future version of course builder able to sync with the courses you have downloaded onto the ipod/iphone. Would be usefull to have local back up of all of my results and it would be great and quicker to be able to edit the course info you have downloaded. Rather than having to edit it on the ipod/phone… cheers russell

Same happened to me.

Hi Russell,
We don’t actually keep track on TeeShot Live of which courses you have downloaded, but now that we are letting you upload your data to the web site, it will be much easier to have a desktop application to do something with that data.

Still can not install it on vista, any idea ?

Yep, I’ve found an issue with registry permissions on Windows Vista when installing the protocol handler that makes it possible to automatically open courses from TeeShot Live.
I am testing a fix now and I hope to have it up there in the next day.

I started geotagging greens for courses I play using Google Maps and noticed some areas Google doesn’t have high enough resolution to actually find the greens. I can find them using MSN Maps, they they don’t offer longitude and latitude readings. Do you know of any other services I can use other than taking the readings myself when trying to play?
Love the app.

Hi Chris
Thanks, I actually only just realized that I can download the courses into course builder which is going to be a great help for me to update some of the courses I uploaded. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the Future. cheers russell

Chris - I requested the feature to include longitude and latitude to MSN Maps, but who knows if/when they’d get to it. I’ll post back if I find something else (or hear back from MSN Maps).

I actually did find where it is for maps.live.com. It is pretty similar to Google Maps. Zoom in until you see the green in the middle, then click the Share button above the image. It gives you an URL like this:
http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=47.20907~-122.577209&style=h&lvl=19&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=12623650&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&ss=yp.chambers%20bay~pg.1~sst.0&encType=1
The GPS coordinates are right after the &cp= part and they are separated by a tilde. So the latitude is 47.20907 and the longitude is -122.577209.

Chris, any update on the Coursebuilder for Windows fix for Vista?

I got mine to work in Vista by right-clicking on the setup icon and selecting ‘Run As Administrator”. This will create the required registry entries in Vista.
Hope this helps enyone else having the same issue!

Thanks,
I was able to install and it seems to work. How do you download a course and use in Coursebuilder?

Once it is installed (and on Vista, you need to do the Run as administrator trick just once) you can just search for a course on TeeShot Live and click Download this course and it will download and open it in CourseBuilder.

I was about to buy this program and I went to the website to download a couple of the courses on the list and I get an error message saying it cant be opened…Is this because I havent purchased it yet, or because those courses arent available? I would appreciate any info because I really want to have this application. Thanks

Hi DJ,
You don’t actually need to download the courses on the computer. When you click download on an iPhone, TeeShot will automatically download and install the course. If you have CourseBuilder for Windows or the Mac installed, you can also edit them by clicking on the course and CourseBuilder will download the course but downloading to the device takes place on the device itself.

Chris,
I have installed Course Builder but can’t get any courses to load from your web site. I have gone to the course search and clicked on a course and nothing happens. Also if I click on Download Course nothing happens. I’m running Vista w/SP1.
Also how do you go about removing multiple entries of the same course on your website?

Chris,
I was able to get some courses downloaded and even got one to upload after entering GPS info. But the next course I tried I am not able to get it uploaded to your site. I get a dialog that it uploaded, but then I chech the website and it never shows up.

Chris,
If you download a course that I already have on the i-phone, will anything be lost, ie round information or statistics?
The reason I ask is updates to the GPS markers that I may make becuse of the ability to use CourseBuilder on windows to improve the accuracy of what I have already marked.

Hi John,
Re-downloading a course is no problem. We will just update the information in the course on the iPhone but we don’t touch any of the existing rounds.
